One wonderful byproduct of co-hosting a television show that occasionally features authors is you receive lots of free books. Recently a Colorado and Company guest handed me an updated copy of Napoleon Hill’s classic, Think and Grow Rich. I decided to re-read it. First released in 1937, millions upon millions of copies have been sold – I can only wish the same for Lemons into Margaritas!
To refresh your memory, Hill worked for steel tycoon Andrew Carnegie and was commissioned to interview more than 500 millionaires, including Edison, Ford and Rockefeller, to find a success formula the average person could utilize.
Born into poverty in Virginia, Hill later became an advisor to Carnegie, and together, they formulated a philosophy of success, drawing on the thoughts and experience of a multitude of rags-to-riches tycoons. The process took more than 20 years.
As the Comeback Coach, I’m always encouraging others to “be limited only by imagination, not fear, in creating productive choices to the challenges we face.” That is basically one of the core philosophies of the book. We have to have the guts to “go for it, run to daylight and play like a champion” in the game of effectively dealing with change, challenge and adversity.
Allowing courage to overcome fear takes tremendous DESIRE. We must be willing to take the risk, to reap the reward. We must be willing to “burn any bridges” of retreat offering an escape route. Are you willing to do that? Are you willing to march forward, destroying any exit allowing you to fall back into old and unproductive habits? Despite knowing those habits hamper your ability to achieve dreams and goals, do you find the fear of the future – the unknown – has you wanting to duck and run?
Burn the bridges and keep marching. Your trek might concern an issue at home, work or community. It doesn’t matter. Stay focused on three things: thoughts, words and actions that honor you; nurture those dependent upon you and add value to the communities you serve.
You commit to that terrific trio and guess what? There will be no reason to retreat! Your actions and attitude will create bridges advancing you even further down the road. The wisdom from a book written 72 years ago still resonates today. There are sometimes in life when retreat is not an option. We must refuse surrender to fear, move forward and become superior to our former selves. Why not right here, right now?

Товарищи, ну сколько можно уже отдыхать!? Уже реально поднадоели эти праздники, наверное правы были те, кто советовал куда-нибудь ехать, а не ерундой страдать все 10 дней. Уже реально делать нечего - дома прибралась, отмыла и отчистила всё что только можно, встретили всей толпой Новый Год, отошли от его отмечания, доели и допили всё, что осталось от новогодней пьян.. ночи :) Отошли от доедания и допивания, съездили на природу, пожарили курочку на гриле, покатались на коньках, покатали шары в боулинге, в кинотеатре поглядели Чёрную Молнию, покатались с горок на ватрушках, в гости к родителям съездила. Сегодня утром проснулась и осознала, что впереди ещё пять дней отдыха. Чем заняться ещё, уже ума не приложу. Кто вообще чем занимается в затянувшийся уикэнд, поделитесь со мной идеями.

В воскресенье сходили с друзьями на киносеанс фильма Наша Russia, хочется поделиться впечатлениями, пока свежи воспоминания и горячи эмоции. Сразу хочу сказать - посмотреть фильм стоит. Новая лента ТНТшников выигрывает у своих предшественников – “самых лучших фильмов» сразу по нескольким статьям. Во-первых, это актёрский состав. Несложно догадаться, что больше половины ролей в фильме исполняют Галустян и Светлаков. Конечно, не хочется говорить, что фильм выехал только на них, но если бы не эти ребята, фильм смотрелся бы достаточно убого. Конечно, может быть мы все уже привыкли и полюбили персонажей из сериала Наша Russia, и именно поэтому в кино мы шли без большой доли скептицизма. И это уже пункт 2: бренд нашей Раши. Ну и в третьих, это какой-никакой, но сюжет - последовательность действий, которые мало-помалу развиваются от начала, и имеют логическую (или не совсем) концовку. Чего фактически не было в самых лучших фильмах - где грубо говоря была последовательность миниатюр, кое как скреплённых общей ниточкой меж собой.
Конечно, фильм Наша Раша Яйца Судьбы не без коясков - это порой уже потёртые шутки, а некоторые моменты можно было обыграть и развить получше. Слишком мало в действии мы увидели Ивана Дулина, Настю Кузнецову, Снежану Денисовну, Славика с Димоном. Ну и, если честно, не очень порадовала концовка, которая оказалась как то очень смятой, скоротечной, и при этом предсказуемой. Но, несмотря на это, фильм всё же понравился. Конечно создатели постарались, чтобы зрители выходили из зала с улыбкой на лице, и в финальные титры "посадили" Сергея Юрьевича Белякова, который в пух и прах разложил всех создателей и участников фильма, кроме себя любимого. Ход сыграл на все 100%!!!

И тут до меня дошло насколько я зависима от сети. Нет, вроде бы целыми днями перед компьютером не провожу, однако признаюсь, день начинаю и заканчиваю и менно компьютером. Хотя, если с другой стороны посмотреть, будет больше настоящего общения, и больше времени на реальные развлечения, на саморазвитие и т.п. Хотя опять же с другой стороны, с некоторыми друзьями связаться можно только через инет (кто живет в других городах и странах, телеон - дорого знаете ли), ну и дополн.инфо можно получить быстро, чем сидеть в библиотеках...
А как вы, легко бы смогли перенести такую утрату?
